Legend Behind Holika Dahan :

Holika Dahan is also called Kamadu pyre. It is widely known by burning the satan named Holika on a pyre. As per the legends, there was a king named  Hiranyakashyap. He was often called the king of demons. He had a son named Prahlad. Prahlad was the best devotee of Lord Vishnu. The king needed Prahlad to not worship Lord Vishnu. As he was the son of a demon king. And demons aren't presupposed to worship any God. But Prahlad stored on worshipping Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashyap received livid with Prahlad and determined to homicide his son. He requested his sister, Holika, for assist. Holika had a magical cloak.

Hiranyakashyap requested his sister to take a seat on the burning pyre with Prahlad. So, Holika tricked Prahlad to take a seat together with her within the pyre. Hiranyakashyap believed that the cloak would have the ability to shield her from burning. But magically the cloak received transferred from Holika to his son. The hearth burnt down Holika in ashes. And the hearth failed to harm Prahlad. The end result was utterly completely different from what the King predicted.
